From Archive to Auction
Presented by Timothy Long, Director, Senior Specialist of Couture and Luxury Accessories, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers.
What are clothes worth? When does what we wear become art, worthy of auction, or worthless? For twenty years, Timothy Long served as a curator of fashion in museums in the US and UK, including the Chicago History Museum and more recently at the Museum of London.
As curator, Long developed annual fashion exhibitions and projects using the museums’ collections of historic clothing and accessories. At the end of 2018, Long left the museum industry to become Director of Couture & Luxury Accessories at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, where he travels throughout the US seeking vintage fashion, couture and accessories for the auction market.
Join Long as he discusses his career in museums and his transition into the resale market of vintage fashion.
