Film screening | 7 pm

Wear your kinkiest boots and join us for a special film screening of Kinky Boots, a musical with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Fierstein. Mostly inspired by true events and based on the 2005 British film, Kinky Boots is the story of Charlie Price, who after inheriting a shoe factory from his father, forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola. Together, they produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business, and in the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they aren’t so different after all.
Before the film screening, we invite you to come early to experience the latest fashion exhibition, Fearless Fashion: Rudi Gernreich, if you have not yet seen it. You’ll enjoy 80 gender-fluid, body-positive designs by the late ’60s-mod designer who revolutionized perceptions of beauty, gender, and identity. Advance tickets are not required to view the exhibition.
This film is a professional recording of a live performance and will be shown in-person in the Museum’s Whiteman Lecture Hall. Seating is limited due to health and safety restrictions, and registration is required. Face masks are required. For additional Museum visitor policies, click here.
